In the last twenty years, 500 land animal species have been found to be on the brink of extinction and in the last fifty years, human activity has wiped out 60% of animals across the globe.
The purpose of this series is to represent animal species on the verge of extinction using the poetry of origamis, which frailty symbolises the powerlessness of these animals threatened by human activity.
Only one kind of origami has been used, the crane, to give the series an aesthetic homogeneity. The colours employed reflect those of the animals and their habitat. All origamis have been made using recycled paper in order to further the environmental purpose of the series. Every crane stands for one remaining individual of each touched on species and aims at making the onlooker realise how little of them there remains in a visually immediate fashion.
Every photography is numbered and limited.
