'Individuals' offers an in depth look into the entanglement between human life and the lives of other species, focusing on the ecological systems whose deterioration increasingly threatens both. 

Hybrid forms are shaped into ritualistic objects and animal subjects whose stories have entered the public sphere in an unfortunate turn of events, are elevated to the status of subjects worthy of their own monuments, posing as symbols of broader structures of violence and the travesty of their essential nature turned into commodities.

The works are a point of departure for an inquiry into the objectification of non-human animal life; its material language and choices, deliberately simple, so as to mirror the subject's societal image. Its complex organic, individual nature is forgotten, and while their death makes little difference in societal perception, art confers upon the representation of their lifeless body a new form of cultural, economic value.

Though further objectified, they are preserved and granted a second more lasting life within the institutional and symbolic space of the art world. It reflects the inherent paradox of value determination in the fact that inanimate objects may acquire an extraordinary cultural and monetary status, while sentient beings remain underestimated, and subject to possession, consumption and finally disposal.

At the core of 'Individuals' is the singularity of animal lives. By elevating individual animals into potentials of memorialisation, the series appropriates a visual and cultural language traditionally reserved for humans. Each work becomes a monument of memory to a singular life, and a sculpture that questions the systems through which certain lives are deemed worthy of preservation.
